Have you ever wondered whether it matters where you get your eye care — a national chain or a local practice? We think it does. Here’s why patients in Southern New Hampshire keep choosing Focused Eye Care in Nashua and Milford, NH.

1. We’re a Locally Owned Small Business

When you get your eyes checked at a locally owned business, you’re not just a number in a system. By choosing a local, independent business, you’re investing in your own community. Focused Eye Care is proudly locally owned, with two convenient locations in Nashua and Milford, NH.

We’ve been providing eye care services to the greater Nashua community since 1962, and while a lot has changed since then and we’ve grown significantly, we remain committed to our original mission to provide the best, most personalized service to everyone we serve.

Our growth continued in September 2021 with the opening of our Milford office at 81 Mont Vernon Street, allowing even more neighbors to access the quality eye care they deserve close to home.

2. Our Owners Are Also Your Doctors (and sometimes even each other’s doctors!)

At many of the large national eye care chains, the people in charge of making decisions about the business have never even looked at a patient’s eyes. At Focused Eye Care, the people who own the practice are the same people examining your eyes.

Our partners, Dr. Sarah Jagatic, Dr. Kelly MacDonald and Dr. Scott Huffer might even be one of the doctors you’ll see at your appointment. They’re members of your local community and that means every decision about how our practice runs has you, the patient, in mind.

Each of their careers in eye care was inspired by personal or family members’ experiences with vision. Dr. Jagatic was originally fascinated with optometry when she got her first pair of contact lenses at age 14; she was amazed that a little piece of plastic could help her see so much better. Dr. MacDonald had a similar experience when she was fit for her first pair of glasses at age 11. As a child, Dr. Huffer witnessed firsthand how he and members of his family struggled with vision and was drawn to the field to make a difference in people’s lives.

Another one of our doctors, Dr. Kendra Phillis, pursued a career in the field after experiencing nearsightedness as a child and enjoying her yearly visits with her then eye doctor and now colleague, Dr. MacDonald.

All their early experiences with eye care and their motivation to help others are apparent in the way they care for and show up for their patients. Appointments are never rushed, questions are welcome, and if something doesn’t look right, you’ll hear about it directly from the doctor who saw you.

3. We Use Only the Highest Quality Lenses

When it comes to our lenses and frames, there is no low-end option; we pride ourselves on offering only the highest quality lenses available. Not all lenses are created equal; the materials and coatings can vary significantly and really do impact how well you see.

Whether you need single vision, progressive or specialty lenses, we’ll help you understand your options and choose what genuinely fits your life and your vision needs. Our Optical Experts are trained and passionate about helping you find the perfect fit that will help you see well and look great. Every time you shop with us, our Opticians perform a 32-point inspection before dispensing your lenses to ensure their quality and accuracy.

We offer 50+ designer frame styles to choose from, including Dolce & Gabbana, Coach, Chesterfield, Elle and many more. To help make quality eye care more affordable and accessible, buy one get one half off frames are always available and you can try on our different styles from the comfort of your own home with our online try-on tool.

4. We’re Guided by Our People First Values

A lot of businesses say they put people first, but at Focused Eye Care, we’ve built our entire practice around it. Our People First values guide our everyday operations and interactions. Our patients tell us that what keeps them coming back isn’t just advanced diagnostics or stylish frames. It’s the way we make them feel seen, heard and cared for.

Our patients experience the People First difference at every touchpoint: a welcoming front desk, Optical Experts genuinely dedicated to finding you the perfect frames and doctors who ensure you leave every appointment with a clearer understanding of your eye health. Countless patients have left our office telling us that after years, they finally understand their diagnosis thanks to our doctors’ emphasis on education.

5. Our Contact Lens Prices Are Lower Than National Retailers

This one surprises a lot of people: independent eye care practices can actually beat the huge nationwide brand names on price.

We’ve done the comparison, and our contact lens prices are consistently lower than national retailers like 1-800 Contacts. We believe you shouldn’t have to choose between quality care and affordability — and we make sure you don’t have to when you visit us.

When you consider the value of seeing a doctor who knows your history, getting a precise fit and having a local team to call if something isn’t right, the choice gets even easier. Ordering from us is easy with our online contact lens portal, and you can save 10% off your order when you purchase an annual supply.
